1. Export a complete backup
Open Quick Copy Phrases and choose Export. Chrome downloads a JSON file containing your saved phrases, their order and an export timestamp. Export includes the complete saved library even when a search is active.
Store the file somewhere you control. It contains the phrase text in a readable format, so anyone who can open it can read the contents. Export does not include unfinished editor drafts.
2. Preview an import
- Open the destination Quick Copy installation and choose Import.
- Select your JSON backup.
- Review how many phrases will be added and how many exact duplicates will be skipped.
- Choose Add phrases to confirm, or Cancel to leave the current library unchanged.
The importer merges into the current library. It does not replace existing phrases. Exact title-and-content duplicates are skipped; differences in the phrase body’s spacing matter. The importer accepts Quick Copy schema version 1 backups and legacy phrase arrays, with limits of 5 MB and 10,000 incoming records.
3. Move to another profile or computer
Export from the old installation, transfer the file yourself, then import it into Quick Copy in the new Chrome profile. Search for a few familiar phrases and check their text before removing the old installation.
If an import is rejected
Confirm that the file is a Quick Copy JSON export, not a ZIP, screenshot or document. Check the size limit and use an unmodified backup if manual changes made the JSON invalid. A rejected import does not intentionally overwrite your saved library.
If a save conflict appears because another popup changed the library, reopen the popup to load the latest saved records, then preview the import again. The extension checks for stale data but does not provide an atomic multi-window editing lock.
